Hostel Infrastructure & Access

The Federal Government has launched the Fiber-to-Hostel Initiative at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), providing students with high-speed internet connectivity ranging from 50 to 100 Mbps in their hostels. This pilot project, part of the National Broadband Alliance for Nigeria, aims to enhance digital access in educational institutions.

Supported by Galaxy Backbone, Huawei, and Tizeti, the initiative will expand to seven additional universities, aligning with the broader goal of equipping all 774 local government areas with quality internet infrastructure. Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, emphasized the transformative potential of this project for students and encouraged them to enroll in the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme to acquire essential tech skills.

Nigeria Talent City Launch

We mark a major milestone with the official launch of the Pilot Phase Design of the Nigeria Talent Cities Initiative — a catalytic project set to position Nigeria as a leading destination for global digital services and remote work.

This event marks the transition from vision to execution, as we start building a national network of Talent City campuses to unlock digitally enabled jobs and drive economic growth at scale.

The FG has unveiled a new ICT Centre in Akesan, Alimosho LCDA—part of President Tinubu’s promise to bring tech opportunities to every corner of Nigeria.

Through the 3MTT programme, this hub will equip local youth with in-demand digital skills and a real shot at thriving in tech.
